![]() ![]() After a bunch of research and speaking to an herbalist (told me it's used to help prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy) (because of its effects on keeping progesterone high) I absolutely 100% feel it's safe during pregnancy. I dropped down to two a day at 14 weeks and at 15 weeks 1 a day. I took my 3 vitex a day until I was 13 weeks(until my placenta was producing enough progesterone on its own). Started vitex again that following month and had a 28 day cycle. Well I had a D&C and didn't take vitex the following month no BFP:( and a 34day cycle. Well when I quit cold turkey my progesterone must have dropped signaling my body to miscarry. I later read that progesterone ( baby hormone) needs to stay high till the placenta takes over after the first trimester. Well after conflicting information I decided to stop taking my vitex cold turkey when I found out. Didn't skip a day.I took it for one month and that first month I had a 29 day cycle. So, I ordered natures way vitex off of amazon ($7) I took two in the morning and one at night (1200mg total) this is my signature dose every day of my cycle. ![]() Basically your pituitary gland is in charge of your hormones. Also it doesn't do anything in your body except regulate your hormones by balancing your pituitary gland. I decided I would try vitex aka because I read it is so good for regulating cycles, helping with mood, Pms and also the best fertility herb (helps with ovulation/hormone balance). Either way.after 4 months of trying and nothing (I could just tell I wasn't ovulating) I began researching. We started trying last June after going off BC. I just wanted to share my story in hopes of it helping someone else who is ttc. ![]()
